I will have 1 to 2 pigeons for sale each week, through the fall, bred directly from my Red Danial Staf Van Reet & Meulemans Breeders. Some will be straight Staf Van Reet, some crossed, and possibly one Meulemans. All pigeons are top quality, in great health, have been vaccinated, come with full pedigrees and will be ready to breed for 2024!
In 2023, I bred from the following:
- 2 Sons of Mr. 900 (Mr. Beast & Gladiator)
- 1 Daughter of Bigity & Sequence (Cali)
- 2 Children of Special Request (Max & Caroline)
- 2 Daughters of 1318 (Caroline & Charis)
- 1 Daughter of Greg's Pick (Charis)
- 1 Son of Red Mencace & PNC Girl (Renegade)
- 2 Children of His Request and Lady 900 (Patriot & Miss America)
- Several Meulemans from Greg McKnight's Meulemans family (progeny of Michelle, Diamond Eyes, Sin City, Pure Gold, 1416, Blue Velvet, etc.), many carrying the recessive red gene and proven to be a great cross into the SVRs (Voodoo Blue, Starlight, Helena, Commander, Olympia)
More About My Breeding Program and Goals:
The basis of The Byrum Racing Pigeon Family is the “Red Danial” Staf Van Reet strain developed by Keith and Linda Turner of England, imported to the USA and further developed by Greg McKnight of California. The “Red Danial,” born in 1989, won 19 x’s 1st in 23 career races. Six wins were at the Federation level with birdage from 2,000-5,000 and his last win before retirement came at 300 miles! “Red Danial” is the great grandson of the famous “Daniel” of Staf Van Reet which was a 57 x’s 1st prize winner!! The “Red Danial’s” progeny have been credited with more than 1,000 wins for fanciers all around the globe.
The Turner’s built their “Red Danial” Staf Van Reet family with only a few select pigeons. For decades the pigeons have been line bred and even inbred, raced very hard, and selected even more diligently. The result is a family of pigeons that aren’t the typical sprint pigeons Staf Van Reet was so well known for, but the “Red Danial” Staf Van Reets are capable of winning from 100 to over 500 miles in all conditions!! For the Turner’s, racing in England, the pigeons had to routinely cross the English Channel late in races, known as the graveyard of pigeon races. Upon their arrival to the USA, Greg McKnight had instant success for himself and clients, winning numerous One Loft Races and Backyard Club & Combine races. They’ve done extremely well bred straight and crossed with other families, especially the Meulemans family for which Greg McKnight is so well known.
I am breeding from a few Meulemans, also sourced from Greg McKnight, used mainly as a crossing line. The Meulemans are tough middle to long distance pigeons that cross very well and can be brought back into the family, adding significant vitality. Many of my Meulemans also carry the Recessive Red color gene, which presents itself from time to time. The Recessive Reds are valued, not only for their beauty, but for their value as breeders of great racers!
