A Belgian bird among the quartet, but again owned by Anton Ruitenberg. Also called “De 781” “Zoon Bliksem”, this is once again one of those superbreeders that just “has it in his genes”. Just look at the pedigree: “Bliksem 781”’s father is once again none other than the worldfamous “Bliksem” of Gaby Vandenabeele, mated to “Kaatje”. “Bliksem”, grandson of the legendary “Wittenbuik”, was a fantastic racer in his own right, winning a 1st Provincial Poitiers against 1488 pigeons, a 2nd Provincial Chateauroux against 4662 pigeons, a 4th Provincial Ruffec against 1778 pigeons, a 5th Provincial Perigueux against 1119 pigeons and an 8th Provincial Poitiers against 2975 pigeons, and of course an incredible breeder. “Kaatje”, daughter of super breeding pair “Gaby” x “Françoise”, became the grandmother of no less than three 1st National winners and, paired to “Bliksem”, the mother of yet another legend, “Rudy”. Although the latter is considered to be one of Gaby Vandenabeele’s best breeders ever, “Bliksem 781” is the grandfather of many first prizewinners against many thousands of pigeons, among them the 1st (and 2nd) National Chateauroux against 27656 pigeons and the 1st National Bourges against 13570 pigeons (and fastest against 33324 pigeons). Therefore some think “Bliksem 781” is an even better breeder than his brother “Rudy”. Be it as it may, it cannot be denied that once again there are superior genes at work here.
