The “New Era DeRauw-Sablons”

It was several years ago (about 2018) that I first came across the famous DeRauw-Sablon strain. I did some research and found that they were one of the most successful middle-distance and long-distance families in Belgium. Over some 50+ years in the sport I have had many different and very good strains of pigeons. But I decided to purchase a couple of the DeRauw-Sablons and give them a try. After seeing and handling them, I realized that they had everything that I was looking for in a great family of pigeons. So, I began a search to acquire some select, older DeRauw-Sablon imports that were as close as possible to the famous champions. I obtained them from various sources and, in particular, was very fortunate to acquire several “key” birds from the well-known fancier, Frank McLaughlin. All of my “foundation” DeRauw-Sablon birds are very closely related to their famous racers and breeders. I now have an outstanding collection of “New Era DeRauw-Sablons” which, I believe, represent some of the very best of the DeRauw-Sablon strain around. 

The DeRauw-Sablons are a true family of pigeons and were developed over some 30 years through a very selective inbreeding and line-breeding program coupled with outstanding racing success. As a result, the DeRauw-Sablons have proven to make a great cross with just about any other good family of pigeon and are responsible for many National and Provincial winners and Ace Pigeons at all levels! Some of the most successful and well-known fanciers here in the US, as well as in Belgium, Holland, China, and a number of other countries, recognized the value of the DeRauw-Sablon strain and made it a point to obtain these bloodlines to add to their breeding program. They include fanciers such as Marc DeCock, Erik Limbourg, Freddy & Jacques Vandenheede, Gerard Koopman, Gaby Vandenabeele, the late Marcel Aelbrecht, Jules Mannaert, Andre Verbesselt, Pros Roosen, and many, many more who have had tremendous successes with the DeRauw-Sablons, either flown straight or crossed with their family of pigeons.
