On Sunday, August 18th, around 9:30 pm, tragedy struck again. A drunk driver collided with my uncle and aunt’s SUV, striking the passenger side where my aunt Melinda was seated. Both were rushed to the hospital, but sadly, we received the heartbreaking news that Aunt Melinda and her baby did not survive.
Now, my uncle is burdened with funeral expenses and daily living costs that he cannot afford due to his inability to work as a result of his own injuries from the accident.
In Hmong tradition, funerals span over three days, involving the hosting of meals and special rituals, with people traveling from across the country to pay their final respects. These ceremonies can cost more than $60,000.
To help support my aunt Melinda, baby Leona and Uncle Christopher Yang, I will be hosting a small auction with my own, and featuring various breeders around the states.
